#BeatPlasticPollution
Cutting back on plastics in the kitchen and grocery store is good for the planet and our health – research shows additives found in plastic packaging and containers can be harmful to our bodies.
Try these tips to reduce your plastics consumption:
Swap out single-use packaged meals – such as pre-made frozen meals, fast food and meal deliveries – for whole and unprocessed foods. To cut costs, try purchasing frozen foods in bulk.
Learn to cook and bake more from scratch. For example, rather than buying individually wrapped granola bars, consider making your own. You’ll notice food tastes better (and contains more nutrients) when ingredients are fresher – it also feels good knowing you made it yourself.
Avoid microwaving food in plastic containers to ensure chemicals don’t leach into your food. Instead, use longer-lasting glass or silicone.
When hydrating, consider investing in a reusable water bottle — made from stainless steel or glass — to quench your thirst, reduce your intake of microplastics and cut back on plastic pollution.
