Dr Rehan Masood
Dr. Rehan Masood is an experienced general surgeon who graduated from medical school in 1997 and prefers to be known by his first name. Dr. Rehan started his career as a consultant surgeon in Pakistan. His professional journey took him to London in the UK, Strasburg, France and Memorial Salone Kettering in New York, USA. He joined Drumheller Associated Physicians in 2013 and made the valley home for his family.
Dr. Rehan performs a wide range of general and laparoscopic surgical procedures including acute surgical emergencies, gall bladder, hernia, appendix, colorectal, thyroid, carpal tunnel and other hand surgeries. He has a professional interest in complex colorectal surgery as well as cancer screening thus performs gastroscopies and colonoscopies. As his is a specialist practice, patients need to be referred to him, most often by their family physicians. He is available in the emergency room and acute care ward for surgical consults at Drumheller Health Centre. Dr. Rehan also has surgical privileges at the Red Deer Regional Hospital and takes part in surgical on-call rotation.
Dr. Rehan strives to provide the best possible surgical care to his patients. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, holds an advanced laparoscopic surgical diploma from Strasbourg, France, a Fellowship from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan, and a surgical specialist license from the College of Physicians and Surgeon of Alberta. He is a regular participant at various Canadian and International surgical forums. Dr. Rehan takes great pride in his role as a teacher for medical students. In addition to clinical and academic responsibilities, Dr. Rehan is serving several administrative positions at DAP clinic, Drumheller hospital and AHS Central Zone.
Attaining a work life balance with such a busy schedule is important to Dr. Rehan and he loves to spend time with his family and friends. Traveling, exploring new cultures, hiking and camping are some of his favorite ways to relax.
