About Me

Dr. Michael Beach is excited to join the team at Drumheller Associated Physicians. He completed his medical school training at the University of Calgary in 2014. He then pursued his family medicine specialty with a focus on rural practice through the U.of C. Rural Family Medicine Residency program based out of Lethbridge. Dr. Beach went on to complete an enhanced skills program in anesthesia through the University of Alberta. This program is specifically intended for family physicians in rural practice to complement their primary care skill set with anesthesia expertise. As a result, Dr. Beach runs a family practice, he is also in the hospital ER, operating room providing anesthetics, caring for inpatients, and providing labor analgesia in the form of epidurals.

Although he is originally from Waterloo in southern Ontario, Dr. Beach has been committed to settling into a rural Alberta practice since he began his medical training. He has received multiple awards from both the College of Family Physicians as well as the Alberta Medical Association, most notably the Michael Tarrant Award for dedication to rural practice. The Drumheller community was an ideal location for him to choose to establish a long term practice as his wife (Stephanie) is originally from Pollockville, where her family continues to run their ranch operation. They are excited to be returning close to home along with their 2 year old son (Chase) and look forward to serving the Drumheller community for many years.

When away from his clinical duties, Dr. Beach enjoys spending time with family, hockey, golf, and baseball, as well as getting into nature and exploring the outdoors with hikes or walks. He is an enthusiast of fantasy literature, the Calgary Flames, and the Toronto Blue Jays. Dr. Beach and his family are excited to integrate into the community in Drumheller and put down roots here.

Dr. Beach is actively involved in the teaching of medical students and family medicine residents from the University of Calgary.
