Dr Lawrence A. Olfert
About Me
Dr. Olfert still operates the farm he grew up on in the Swift Current area of Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Saskatchewan for his medical degree and after 3 years of practice in Unity, SK, he went to the University of British Columbia to finish his family practice residency. He came to Drumheller in 1978. Dr. Olfert does a full scope of practice except surgery and anesthesia.
He was instrumental in developing the Big Country Outreach program for special needs kids and worked with Hughes Aerospace and the University of Calgary in developing telehealth. He worked on the planning of the current hospital and was one of the initial developers of the Valley Bus Society.
Dr. Olfert and his wife Agnes have 3 grown children and 8 grandchildren. His hobbies include farming, skiing, traveling and hunting. He has also been involved in church administration both locally at the Fellowship Baptist Church and nationally as a member of National Council for the past 6 years.
